The recoil spring guide set keeps the recoil spring aligned inside the SSP5 slide, pulling it back into battery after each shot and dampening the impact at the end of the recoil stroke. Consistent recoil behaviour is part of what gives the SSP5 its accuracy and controllable felt recoil.
